I went to church just this evening. We studied Psalm 136. There is a lot of reasons to be thankful to God. A lot of times, because of what we are going through, it can be relationship problems, financial problems, feeling weary, we think there is no reason at all to be thankful to God. Well there is! The very fact that we are alive is a reason itself to thank God!

Ok, some may say, "Why should I be alive anyway if I have to go through pain? Why should I be thankful that I'm alive?" Why? Because God is pursuing us! He loves us! He want us to know how much He loves us! The fact that we are still alive means He still is giving us the chance to respond to His pursuit of us!

Ok why do we go through pain? I Corinthians 9:24-27

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

26 Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air.

27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

James 1:2-4

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,

3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.


We may not have all the answers to a lot of nagging questions that we have but be reminded that GOD KNOWS and WANTS what is BEST for US!
